Matthew Burns on YouTube with helpful videos!

IATD is pleased to have Dr. Matthew Burns with us at the April Conference! From Huntley School District's Curriculum Leadership: Dr. Burns is a researcher and professor at the University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI) where they focus on teacher development and reader development. They have designed resources to support teachers in becoming more successful in their capacity to help students learn to read. We are using the UFLI Foundations reading program this year for our WIN time (What I Need) to support students who need extra support in reading.
Dr. Burns's research on the effects of various reading interventions and the webinar I participated in, "Targeting Reading Interventions to Increase Success: Getting Beyond Levels." I learned a lot about Tier 2 interventions and how to analyze screening and diagnostic data to support what our students need to become stronger readers. The best part of this for me was what he shared about a data worksheet to use for teachers to analyze their individual classroom data. He called this an Analysis to Action worksheet and we are now going to build that into a system we can use with staff for our data meetings. "
